Weekly Runs
Weekly Runs
Sunday - Brookside Run, 8:00 AM
Sundays we meet at the Millburn Library to run up Brookside Drive which is deliciously closed to traffic. Typical distances are 4-ish miles, 6-ish miles, and up. The views are gorgeous, the pace is democratic, the company is excellent, and the hill is really not that bad - join us!
Wednesday - Track, 6:00 AM
Led by SOMA Fox’s Head Coach, Steph, the weekly track workout meets on Underhill Field, the Columbia High School track. Be prepared to work hard and have fun! Workout averages 1 hour, and can be modified for all levels of runner. Bring a water bottle!
Friday - Social Run, 6:30 AM
1st, 3rd, & 5th Friday: Intersection of Midland Blvd and Summit Ave, Maplewood, NJ
2nd & 4th Friday: Corner of Maplewood Avenue and Baker Ave, Maplewood, NJ
On Friday mornings we meet for a 3-mile social run! Meet at Midland Gate on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Friday of the month and at Baker Square in Maplewood Village on the 2nd and 4th Friday! This is a great opportunity to meet your teammates and also a great run for newbies and people who are returning to running after a break.

Random Fun Runs!
We do lots of other fun stuff, too! Coach Steph is infamous for her route art, we do hill workouts of varying seriousness, we run trails, we do scavenger hunts, we do relay races, we do monthly challenges - and members can arrange social runs on any day of the week amongst themselves via our members-only Facebook group and WhatsApp communication channels.
SFRC reserves the right to cancel weekly runs or events due to severe weather, including but not limited to: lightning, high winds, driving rain, ice storms, flooding, etc. In the event that we cancel a run, we will make every effort to notify members through a WhatsApp announcement and email. We expect members to use their own judgment when deciding whether conditions are safe to run, whether or not they hear from us.
What To Expect at an SFRC Club Run
Joining a club run for the first time may feel daunting, but we hope you know that we are here to welcome you into the skulk!
On our Friday and Sunday runs, we always begin with circle time. Folks gather in a circle, and a member of the club leadership team will start (exactly on time) with quick club announcements, and then ask a lighthearted question. Then we go around the circle with folks saying their first name and their answer the question. Then we form up for a group photo, and we hit the road for our scheduled run of the day! Pace groups form up naturally, so the club really spreads out on these runs.
If you would like to be matched with a group, just turn up a couple of minutes early and just let Steph or Jess know approximately what your pace is (e.g. I prefer to run ~10:30 minutes per mile).
Wednesdays are our track workout, so we skip circle time in the interest of getting the workout done in time. We gather in a corner of the track at 6:05 am for a structured warmup as a group. We stay in lanes 3-6 to leave room for other runners in lanes 1 and 2. The warmup covers 1 lap of the track with different dynamic moves, and the group stays together. We end with a few strides, and then gather on the turf by about 6:15 to hear an explanation of the workout from Coach Steph. Then we take a group photo, and begin the workout! It is perfectly acceptable to do the warmup with the group and then do your own workout on the track if you like.
We think you will find our club culture to be warm and welcoming, supportive and cheerful!
If you have a question, please do not hesitate to ask. We hope you join us!
