SFRC Code of Conduct

Members of the SOMA Fox Running Club (“SFRC”, or “Club”) agree to abide by the following rules:

  • Always show respect to your fellow Club members at all times in person or in a virtual environment;

  • Always show respect and appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to help the Club and/or event(s);

  • Always show respect for all property (public and private) in the communities through which we run. Treat neighborhood property as you would want others to treat your own property;

  • Always follow all local laws and regulations when participating in any Club events;

  • Never yell, taunt, or threaten physical violence upon another member of the Club, a volunteer or event spectator (Members with a criminal history of violence or with a legal restraining order against them by another Club member may be barred from membership and participation in all Club activities);

  • Conduct is consistent with the Club’s mission of providing an inclusive running environment. Never use abusive or vulgar language, or make slurs or derogatory comments based on race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, or sexual orientation at club events. Anyone acting in this (or other) prejudicial manner may have their Club membership suspended or revoked;

  • Never make unwanted sexual or physical contact with other members (Members found to be listed on a sex offender registry, convicted of a sex crime, or caught having, creating, or distributing child pornography will be immediately barred from membership and all participation in Club activities.);

  • Always abide by race rules which includes adhering to that race’s rules for bib transfers. Never participate in a race without registering, race under a bib that is not registered in your name, or use club channels of communication to engage in illegal bib transfers. Always engage in fair competition, which includes anti-doping compliance, no course cutting, or other means of gaining a competitive advantage that is considered cheating when participating in Club races or other races where you may represent the Club by wearing a Club-branded singlet, shirt, uniform, etc.;

  • Service dogs are permitted at all Club races and events. Well socialized, on-leash pet dogs are permitted at Friday and Sunday club runs. Well socialized, on-leash pet dogs are permitted on runs that are organized through club channels as long as the other runners in the group agree. Pet dogs are not permitted at track workouts or at Club races or events;

  • Always report violations of the Member Code of Conduct policy to the Board in writing.
